The cave is named for the legend involving the Apache, who were said to believe it was the home of a Great Spirit of the Wind. In 1869 a white settler, Arthur B. Love, found the entrance to the cave, but the first major exploration was conducted in June 1880.

The cave of the winds is a cave that a man built. I went there and I got to see how it was like. We got to hear some ghost stories. Our tour guide said that a woman didn’t believe in any ghost when they were at the post card spot. And there was this huge hole for people from Wisconsin.
