Virginia Tech Petition (~10 MB)
Greetings from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University Colony of Theta Tau. In 2006, a group of engineering students who had met that previous summer dreamed of a way to not only keep their friendship strong, but also to encourage professional growth in engineering. The result was an organization that has expanded considerably from the dreams of its fourteen founding fathers. Since our birth as a colony on March 24, 2007, we have strived to create an association that embodies the spirit of Theta Tau.
We have carved an honorable name for ourselves on campus through various career fairs and organization showcases and by participating in community service activities such as Relay for Life and The Big Event. For our brothers we host regular professional development and social events. Over the past two years, we engaged in time management, goal-setting, and resume workshops and fostered brotherhood by starting movie nights and game tournaments. We also participate regularly in campus intramural sports. To promote a sense of family with our brothers outside of our colony, we visited our brothers at the Kappa Gamma chapter of Virginia Commonwealth University, attended the 2008 National Conference in Washington, D.C., and hosted the 2008 Atlantic Regional Conference one year ago. In the future, we hope to obtain a permanent headquarters or chapter house to further this sense of brotherhood. Due to our constant presence and spirit, we've grown to fifty-five active members with a current pledge class of ten. We are a close-knit group despite our large number. Each of our members has dedicated large amounts of time and has invested much of his or her self to build an organization whose future is exceptionally bright. I am extremely proud to be a part of this and I am very excited about where we are heading. It is our hope that you will recognize our commitment and achievements by viewing this petition in a favorable light. |
