Evaluating the LEAD Program
| Since inception of the LEAD Program, the Fraternity recognized that an independent, scientific evaluation of the LEAD Program would be desirable for numerous purposes including: a measurement of whether the program is |
 |
accomplishing its purpose; continued curriculum development; a gauge of enthusiasm and support for the program among members and non-members; and academic respect and support for the program.
In 2006, the Fraternity took a major step toward this goal when it partnered with George Mason University's Center for the Advancement of Public Health to pilot a new assessment survey to evaluate and measure the effectiveness of the LEAD Program with thirty randomly selected chapters from across North America. Based on the exceptionally positive results of that evaluation, the Fraternity decided to offer the assessment survey to all undergraduate chapters in the spring of 2007 and again, in an online survey format, in the spring of 2008. For more information about those assessments and Sigma Nu's partnership with George Mason University please click here.
Every chapter's participation in this survey is essential to the continued evaluation of the LEAD Program's effectiveness, and it is imperative that all undergraduates participate. Regardless of a chapter's or individual's degree of involvement with the LEAD Program, it is important to have every undergraduate's participation. The assessment survey will be sent out later this semester via e-mail directly from George Mason University's Center for the Advancement of Public Health, health@gmu.edu.
Alumni can assist in this initiative by encouraging the participation of all undergraduates in this important effort. For more information on the LEAD assessment survey, please contact Scott Smith, Director of Leadership Development.
