It's All for the Kids! Even the Grown Up Ones!

Friends and supporters of the El Segundo Educational Foundation participated in several Foundation activities last month – all for the kids – benefiting the programs and students of El Segundo's public schools. From golf to kids and cars, we're finishing out the school year with a bang!

ESUSD Remains Committed to 21st Century Skills Despite State Shortfall

State budget cuts have left California schools in dire straights. The El Segundo Unified School District Board of Education is faced with the difficult challenge of devising a plan to eliminate more than $3.5 million from the budget for the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 school years combined.

While the State budget remains to be finalized by the legislature--which should happen sometime this summer--the ESUSD continues to build important 21st Century skills into the curriculum and is calling upon the Foundation for help in protecting the rigor and excellence of the education offered to El Segundo students. Reminding Us What Matters

Ask anyone, priorities are changing. We're all thinking differently these days about how we give, spend, and invest. Despite the challenges, one of the greatest benefits of hard economic times is the reminder of what really matters--things like our family, friends, and especially our children.
Board Veteran Ken Schofield Steps Down

After serving a combined twenty years on the El Segundo Unified School District Board of Education and most recently on the Board of the El Segundo Educational Foundation, Ken Schofield decided earlier this year to step down from the ESEF for health reasons. For many years he has served as Vice Chairman and community representative on the Foundation's Board of Directors.
