Face-to-Face with the Community

Richmond St. - 60%
ESMS - 27%
ESHS - 21%
Both elementary schools will receive $2,500 each, while ESMS and ESHS will receive $1,000 each to purchase discretionary items on their wish lists. Thank you to all the families, staff, and administrators who generously supported the BOOST campaign! |

Boeing Provides Volunteer Mentors for ESHS Robotics Club
The High School's robotics program provides a learning environment full of opportunities for students to practice problem-solving, effective communication, and how to lead others as well as gain a hands-on perspective of physics, math, and engineering. Several corporations in and around El Segundo provide mentors every year to help supervise and facilitate the program.
This year Boeing, one of ESEF's Corporate Partners, has three young engineers |

volunteering as mentors for the program. Tina Hawley, advisor to the Robotics Club, says, "All of the mentors are amazing. They have developed a great repertoire with the students, and I enjoy seeing my students from a different perspective as they interact with the volunteers. It would be difficult to have an effective robotics program without them." |

What Was Your Best Putt Ever?
May is event-month for the El Segundo Educational Foundation. We'll close out the school year with two special events that are sure to keep you smiling as you're reminded that your contributions make all the difference for the kids in our District.
Find your foursome and make plans to putt your way around the Rio Hondo Golf Club on Friday, May 8, 2009 for the ESEF's 21st Annual "Strokes of Genius" Golf Tournament. Online registration is now available.

And speaking of putting. . .can't you just imagine the "putt-putt-putt" of a classic antique car or the "roar" of a sporty roadster – both of which could make an appearance at the 2nd Annual "Car People for Education" Car Show. This family-friendly event will be held on Saturday, May 30th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
