Inside The UIFI Experience
Imagine, as a collegiate-age woman, taking a five-day journey during which you not only learn important leadership lessons, but you also reach deep inside yourself to find your true fraternal calling. She is changed forever.
That is what the Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute (UIFI) is about. Not a workshop, not a seminar, it is an experience shared with other interfraternal brothers and sisters. A young woman or man experiencing UIFI must be ready for the challenges they will meet – intellectually, emotionally and physically. They learn skills, theories, principles and methods. They provide wisdom, experience and enthusiasm. They need a willingness to change themselves, their chapter and their Greek community. This is not an introductory experience – it is for those who are ready to realize the potential of themselves and their fraternity or sorority.
UIFI is experiential. It is not a classroom experience or a simple retreat. It is complex and each day builds upon the one it follows. Equal time is devoted to written reflection, verbal discussions, active challenges and personal introspection.
Young women in Delta Zeta have discovered the UIFI experience, thanks to generous scholarships made possible by donations to the Delta Zeta Foundation. They have become changed for the better and charged with changing the world. Here is how your donation has and can profoundly change and inspire these collegiate members:

"Thank you and the Delta Zeta Foundation for this extraordinary opportunity to attend this experience. UIFI was like nothing I've ever participated in before. I learned more fully the relevance of fraternities and sororities across the United States and Canada, and how to continue the revolution of reviving relevance to our common community by focusing on the little, yet immensely important, small steps of change in my Delta Zeta chapter and our Panhellenic community at home."

"Before UIFI, I really had no idea how to relate what we did in our chapter room to everyday life. Now I'm learning from our ritual the values I must live out every day. People no longer see just me; they see a Delta Zeta. I am now making changes within myself to be a better leader, a better person. I'm grateful to our Foundation and the alumnae who made this scholarship possible."

"The experience I had at UIFI was amazing. I learned so much about what being in a Greek organization is truly about: living your creed. My absolute favorite moment was when the five other Delta Zeta sisters I had met and I recited our creed together. It was such a beautiful moment because it really put into perspective the magnitude of our sisterhood. I want to thank the scholarship providers for allowing me to attend the UIFI conference, because I have learned so much and I feel that my chapter and the entire Greek community at St. Mary's University will benefit."

"The UIFI experience is one that will forever contribute to my future as a Greek. During my time at UIFI, I reflected on what my purpose in Delta Zeta is. One of my true ‘ah-ha' moments happened when I sat down with the other Delta Zeta women attending the institute and talked about our creed, ritual and our individual chapters. It is an amazing feeling to know that, as a member of this wonderful organization, I have sisters all over the world. I want to work to understand what it means to ‘walk truly in the light of the flame' as a Delta Zeta. In turn, this will help others to see how being in a sorority has changed my life and how it is making my college experience complete. It is my goal to continue to work on the visibility of Greek Life on my campus."
