Fall Reunions Bring Classmates Together

Nobel Winner
Norman Borlaug
Dies At 95
Norman Borlaug, the U.S. agricultural scientist who received the 1970 Nobel Peace Prize for developing high-yielding crops to prevent famine in the developing |
world, has died at age 95. Borlaug, a distinguished professor of international agriculture at Texas A&M University, was hailed as a central figure in the "green revolution"–the development of crops such as wheat that delivered better yields than traditional strains. Experts have said his crusade to develop high-yielding, disease-resistant crops saved the lives of millions of people worldwide who otherwise may have been doomed to starvation. Borlaug died Sept. 12 from cancer complications in Dallas. Click the headline to read more, or click here to visit the website of the Norman Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture.
A&M Fares Well
In Latest Rankings
Texas A&M University ranks at the top of the class--with an "A"--in new ratings by the American Council of Trustees and Alumni. In another survey, U.S. News & World Report ranks Texas A&M among the Top 25 public universities in the nation, just as it has done for the past several years. A survey by PayScale, an online firm specializing in salary-related data, showed that graduates of Texas A&M University earn, on average, higher salaries midway through their careers than counterparts from any other public institution in Texas. More specifically, it said Texas A&M graduates have median earnings averaging $95,000 at the midpoint of their careers, which is almost $4,000 higher than for any other public university in the state. The survey was based on salaries of graduates with bachelor's degrees.

MSC Is Now Closed For Renovations
Construction fencing is up around the MSC, and the breezeway is no longer accessible. At an Aug. 17 ceremony held at the exact site where the MSC dedication ceremony was held in 1951, MSC President Stephanie Burns '10 turned over the keys to Bill Vaughn '71, of Vaughn Construction, signifying the official start of construction. Both Burns and MSC director Luke Altendorf said the ceremony symbolically converted the site from a living memorial to a construction area for the duration of the project. The MSC is scheduled to reopen in 2012. For up-to-date information, visit OurMSC.tamu.edu.
Game Day Parking And Tailgating

See this map for routes and times. Tailgating in Aggieland is one of game day's many traditions. Visit A&M's tailgating website for general rules, frequently asked questions and parking information.
