The Association, Texas A&M Announce 2009 Distinguished Alumni
Texas A&M University and The Association of Former Students are proud to announce the recipients of the 2009 Distinguished Alumnus Award: Edward C. "Pete" Aldridge, Jr., '60 of Arlington, Va.; Frank C. Litterst, Jr., '43 of College Station; Pablo D. Marvin '66 of College Station; and Dr. Charles R. Munnerlyn '62 of San Jose, Calif., along with two posthumous recipients: Jesse W. Easterwood, Class of 1909; and Frederick W. Heldenfels, Jr. '33. The Distinguished Alumnus Award is the highest honor bestowed upon a former student of Texas A&M University. The award recognizes outstanding Aggies who have made significant contributions within their professions, communities and significant contributions to Texas A&M. The Next Tradition
The Association of Former Students hosted "The Next Tradition" graduation party May 14 in the Student Recreation Center. May graduates, along with family and friends, were invited for food, door prizes, games, swimming, career-search advice and to learn about their next tradition of being a former student. They also had the opportunity to join the Century Club at a reduced rate, an opportunity that offer continues for all recent grads. Click the headline for more information.

New Constituent Networks
Since The Association's Leadership Council approved a change to the bylaws in 2003 allowing organizations to affiliate with The Association as Chartered Constituent Networks, eight groups have been chartered. They are the Aggie Real Estate Network, the Association of Former Singing Cadets, the Bush School Former Student Network, The Federation of Texas A&M University Mothers' Clubs, the Black Former Student Network, the Texas Aggie Bar Association, the Texas A&M Hispanic Network, and the Women Former Students' Network. Southwest Classic Set For Oct. 3
The Texas A&M and University of Arkansas football teams will meet in the inaugural Southwest Classic Oct. 3 at the new Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. The Association of Former Students and 12th Man Foundation invite you to join them for pregame fun. The All Aggie Hullabaloo, Concert and Yell Practice--an event for all Aggies with an outdoor concert and Yell Practice to follow for all Aggies and all Classes--is set for Oct. 2. On Saturday, join us for a Corps march-in near the Cowboys Stadium and tailgating with other Aggies.     

2009 Coach's Nights
Texas A&M head football coach Mike Sherman is planning a great season for the Aggies and he wants to tell you all about it. Make plans to join Sherman, The Association of Former Students and the 12th Man Foundation at a local A&M Club's Coach's Night. Each Coach's Night includes not only Coach Sherman, but great dinners, silent auctions and lots of Aggie camaraderie. All proceeds support the Clubs' scholarship funds. Class Reunion Football
Block Tickets Available

The 12th Man Foundation is now accepting tickets order for fall Reunion season. Classes of '04, '94, '89, '84 and '79 have blocks set up for their Reunions. Those attending Class Reunions who wish to sit in their Class blocks must place orders online, over the phone or by mail by July 16. The Traveling Aggies

Begin your Aug. 16-28 cruise voyage in the Eternal City, Rome. Your first port of call will be beautiful Portofino, followed by stops in stylish Monte Carlo, magnificent Florence, beautiful Amalfi and Sorrento, historic Sicily and Valletta. Your last leg will concentrate on Greece, with visits to the gorgeous islands of  Santorini, Rhodes, Delos and Mykonos. You will conclude your trip in another world-famous city, Athens.

The Association Welcomes New Former Students
Texas A&M celebrated May graduation with eight ceremonies across the world. Texas A&M University Qatar's May 6 graduation was the first graduation of the
season, with 66 students receiving their diplomas. In that ceremony, TAUM-Qatar awarded its 100th diploma since opening in 2003. Back in College Station, students receiving the doctorate of veterinary medicine graduated May 14 in Rudder Auditorium, while five commencement ceremonies were held May 15-16 in Reed Arena to award undergraduate and graduate degrees. Texas A&M Galveston had its commencement May 16 at the Moody Gardens Convention Center.

March To The Brazos
The Corps of Cadets participated in its 33rd March to the Brazos, May 2 in support of the March of Dimes. Cadets marched 18 miles roundtrip, from their dorms on the Quad, through main campus, to the Brazos River, and back. March to the Brazos is organized and comprised entirely by members of the Corps of Cadets and is the largest and most successful student-led fundraiser for the March of Dimes in the United States.

Aggies Part Of Bovine Genome Project
Texas A&M scientists are part of a group that successfully sequenced the cattle genome. The findings could lead to such advancements as disease-resistant cattle, improved production efficiency and more tender beef. Researchers
used the complete sequence from a Hereford cow, looking for markers that can help researchers identify favorable traits. The sequence took six years to complete and involved more than 300 scientists from 25 countries.

Texas A&M Again Ranked
By Hispanic Outlook

Texas A&M ranked 28th nationally in awarding bachelor's degrees to Hispanic students by "The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education." Among specific undergraduate programs, Texas A&M ranks first in agriculture, sixth in biological and biomedical sciences and sixth in engineering/engineering technology.
