Aggie Muster
Is Today

"Muster is the most solemn and sacred of all Aggie traditions, but it is a time of joy and happy remembrance. Those who have gone before us are those
whose lives have touched ours. May we do the same for those who come after us. May we expect no less of ourselves." --Dr. E. Dean Gage '65. We hope that you make time today to connect with Aggies in your community and to observe Aggie Muster. It is important for you to invest time to get to know one another and to strengthen your Aggie Network by sharing your experiences at A&M and by identifying ways to help each other succeed in your communities. For locations, times and more information about local Musters, visit AggieNetwork.com. Campus Muster is held at Reed Arena and starts at 7 p.m. If you can't attend, you can watch the campus ceremony live at KAMU's website.

'Find An Aggie' Directory Opened To All Former Students
The online networking tool Find An Aggie is now accessible to anyone with an account at AggieNetwork.com. The Association believes it is more important than ever for Aggies to have access to one another. The directory can be an important tool as Aggies reach out to one another, allowing them to locate Aggies by geographic area, Class year, occupation and employer. Those wishing to utilize the directory only have to log in to AggieNetwork.com. To create an account takes just a few minutes, and there are no fees. To get started, visit AggieNetwork.com/directory.

News from Texas A&M
Texas A&M System Has
$3 Billion Impact On Community

An in-house study authorized by Texas A&M President Elsa A. Murano shows that the University and other locally headquartered members of the Texas A&M System had a direct $1.3 billion impact on College Station, Bryan and the surrounding area during 2008. That's an increase of about $146.5 million compared to the previous year and the previous record. Adding the impact of those dollars being reinvested throughout the region, the total impact is about $3.28 billion--nearly $366 million more than the prior record set in 2007.

Graduation Set
For May 15-16

Five commencement ceremonies spanning two days are planned May 15-16 in Reed Arena for 2009 spring Texas A&M University graduates. A separate ceremony May 14 at Rudder Auditorium will award Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees. Click the headline for more information on Texas A&M's spring commencement ceremonies, including parking information, overnight lodging and services for disabled guests, as well as information about the commencement convocation. Commencement for graduates and undergraduates at Texas A&M University at Galveston will be at 9 a.m. May 16 at the Moody Gardens Convention Center.

Big Event
Bringing together about 12,000 Texas A&M students and faculty members, Big Event completed more than 1,300 jobs March 28. The one-day service project, now in its 27th year, is a way for the students and faculty of A&M to say "thank you" to the communities of Bryan and College Station for all of their support.

Aggie Medal Of Honor Recipient Honored
2nd Lt. Lloyd H. Hughes '43 was honored March 30 as his Medal of Honor was presented to the Sanders Corps Center. Hughes, a former member of the Corps of Cadets--and one of seven Medal of Honor recipients from Texas A&M--was the first Aggie to be awarded the distinction posthumously for "gallant action above and beyond the call of duty." He died while piloting his heavy bomber on a precision minimum-altitude bombing raid on Axis refineries in Ploesti, Romania, on Aug. 1, 1943. Representatives of the Hughes family, including two brothers and several members of the 389th Bombardment Group, attended the presentation.
