International Alumnus
Khalid A. Al-Falih '82, the leader of the world's largest petroleum company, is the recipient of the 2010 Texas A&M University Outstanding International Alumnus Award. She's a fiery woman with snow-white hair. At 101 years old--she'll celebrate year 102 on May 14--Glada Crocker has enjoyed many passions in her life. Her husband, Alfred Crocker '30, their son, Alfred Markham Crocker, and Texas A&M. 'Oh, Texas A&M. I've loved it ever since I saw my first Aggie,' she said. Aggie Ring Orders And Repairs
The Aggie Ring Program is accepting Ring orders until April 2 for May 2010 graduates and qualified former students. Aggie Rings ordered by this time will be delivered May 14. Cancer Center To Honor Aggie Legends
Texas Children's Cancer Center's sixth annual 'An Evening with Texas Legends' will honor Texas A&M's legendary Junction Boys. Sportswriter Mickey Herskowitz will interview the Junction Boys during the Texas Legends fundraiser, set for April 27 at the Hilton Americas Houston. Parents' Weekend
The tradition of Parents' Weekend celebrates its 91st anniversary April 16-18 with three days of events. The MSC Variety Show, the premiere student talent show |
on campus, is planned for April 16. Other activities during the weekend include a Bevo Burn BBQ, the Aggie Moms' Boutique, a Singing Cadets concert, Midnight Yell and an All University Awards Ceremony. For a full schedule of events, click the headline.
In Memoriam: Lt. Gen. James Hollingsworth '40
Retired Army Lt. Gen. James F. Hollingsworth '40, who was honored with placement of a statue on campus, died March 2 in San Antonio at age 91. By some accounts, Hollingsworth was the most decorated general officer ever to graduate from Texas A&M. The Hollingsworth statue bears the inscription 'Danger 79er,' which was the general's radio call sign for more than 20 years, including the time of his command in Vietnam. Corps Honors Loftin
With President R. Bowen Loftin '71 looking on from the porch of his home on campus, the Corps of Cadets conducted a surprise review March 1 to greet and congratulate the newly instated president of Texas A&M University.
