for the common cause of long term, reliable and sustainable funding for the state's two flagship institutions. Orange & Maroon Legislative Day (OMLD) 2009 brought together a statewide grassroots network of alumni and friends of Texas A&M University and the University of Texas at Austin to increase public and legislative support for our state's higher education system. Volunteers from both schools visited representatives from the Texas House and Texas Senate. OMLD is held in odd-numbered years while the State Legislature is in session. The next OMLD will take place in 2011.

Former students looking for assistance with their job search have several resources available to them through the Aggie Network. The Association of Former Students provides funding to the Texas A&M Career Center to assist former students in career transition. Services include resume review and networking advice. Short Term Medical Plan Insurance is available for former students who are in job transition, returning to school or working part-time. Class of '59 Reunion
The Class of '59 will hold its 50th Anniversary Reunion in April as classmates gather in College Station to reminisce and visit with friends. In addition to being the honored Class during the campus Muster ceremony, Class Agents have planned several activities to help celebrate this milestone. Astronaut Steve Swanson '98 is orbiting the earth on shuttle mission STS-119, delivering tools needed to complete the International Space Station's electricity-generating system. During the 14-day mission , Swanson will serve as the lead spacewalker. Swanson earned his doctorate in computer science from Texas A&M.
Aggie Ring Orders And Repairs
The Aggie Ring Program is accepting Ring orders for May 2009 graduates and qualified former students until April 3. Aggie Rings ordered by this time will be delivered May 15. Aggie Rings may be ordered in person, by mail or fax. The Aggie Ring Program can assist you with your Aggie Ring if it needs to be resized or repaired. Stop by our office at the Clayton W. to close in August for renovation and expansion--than originally thought. Portions of the MSC could be opened within 24 to 30 months, not three years as first expected. The MSC broke ground in 1949 when fewer than 7,000 students attended Texas A&M. The building was renovated in the early 1970s when enrollment was about 11,000 and again in the early 1990s, when about 32,000 students attended. Texas A&M now has about 48,000 students.

Most Popular Colleges
U.S. News & World Report ranks Texas A&M University among the top 15 universities of the nation in the percentage of freshmen who enroll after being formally accepted. Texas A&M ties for 13th place with a 56 percent yield. “If a school has a high yield (a large portion of those admitted enroll), it means that the school is most likely very popular with a top reputation and the students are highly motivated to go there,” the list's editors wrote.
Aggies In Business Inc.
Texas A&M's Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship sponsors a student enterprise called Aggies in Business, Inc. AiB is a not-for-profit organization and is run almost entirely by Texas A&M students. The team completes paid consulting projects |

Parents' Weekend
The tradition of Parents' Weekend celebrates its 90th anniversary April 17-19 with three days of events. The MSC Variety Show, the premiere student talent show on campus, is planned for April 17. Other activities during the weekend include barbeques, the Aggie Moms' Boutique, the Maroon and White football game, Midnight Yell and a concert by the Singing Cadets. International Week
International Week at Texas A&M ended March 5. The annual week of festivities, jointly sponsored by ISA and the International Programs Office, offered exotic music, food and dance from around the world. International students at Texas A&M say the week provides an opportunity to reach out and share their cultures with the Aggie family and local community. Events included an international talent show and traditional dress parade, an international symposium and cultural displays.
